It’s Thanksgiving! Baseball fans can come together and celebrate all of the things that they are thankful for when it comes to their favorite Major League squad. For Chicago White Sox fans, it was a disappointing year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give thanks to certain people.
As far as offense, people might be thankful for Eloy Jimenez and his raw power. On the pitching side of things, Dylan Cease is the one to be thankful for after what he accomplished in 2022. All in all, the White Sox have a long way to go but there are some enjoyable players to cheer on.
There is also the prospect side of things as well. The White Sox don’t have a highly touted farm system right now as most of their top prospects have graduated to become Major League Baseball players, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few players to be excited about.
There are some studs in the system, but the one to be most excited about is Oscar Colas. This young man might become a very good major league player one day soon. He should get his first look early in 2023 with the White Sox. There is even a chance that he starts on Opening Day.
The White Sox have dealt with injuries to certain players more than once which could give leeway to him regardless of what happens if those injuries happen again. The ideal situation is that he is the full-time right fielder right away.
If that happens, it means two things. The first is that he was good enough to be an impactful player immediately. It also means that they didn’t overpay for a free agent that isn’t going to help them in the long term again. They don’t need any more Adam Eaton-type players to try and fix things.
Oscar Colas isn’t going to be the savior of this team, but he very well could be a good player that helps them win a little bit more than whatever other options they currently have. We will see what happens.
