On its Facebook page, the Kouter police zone (Gistel, Ichtegem, Jabbeke, Oudenburg, Torhout) calls on the population to be more careful about “Movie Money”. These are fake banknotes used on film sets. “Pay particular attention to the fine print below,” the police added.
Many clearly visible details such as texture, inscriptions and signatures make it possible to distinguish them from real banknotes. So, on the side of the fake note, one can read “This is not legal. It will be used for motion props”. “This counterfeit money can easily be ordered on the internet and the scam is now widespread across Europe.”
Last week, KLJ in Beerst (Diksmuide municipality) also had to deal with this counterfeit money. So a person buys drink tickets worth at least 500 euros during a party.
