Renault claimed in a press release to be the creator of the first industrial Metavers. So the first part of the company’s digital transformation is complete. Now is the time to reap the rewards.
A few days after announcing the signing of a partnership with Google, Renault launched it Industrial Metaverse. This, according to them, is a world first in the automotive industry. In other words, as explained in video posted on YouTube by the band : the company has created a digital replica of its production line and all its factories. This environment makes it possible to simulate in real time the operation of its smallest elements, whether it is a worker, his screwdriver, a machine tool or even a truck.
According to Renault, the metaverse has all the qualities: delivery times for the brand’s cars will be reduced by 60%, while Renault’s carbon footprint will be reduced by 50%. It also lowers costs, by reducing inventory to a minimum, for example. In general, the savings made should be in the order of 580 million euros in 2025.
Its industrial Metaverse will allow Renault to save €600 million
The implementation of this project requires a titanic work and relies on different axes. To collect and standardize more than a billion pieces of data per day, it is necessary connecting a fleet of more than 8,000 machines and provision of 7,000 hectares of Wifi installations. All the group’s factories and 90% of the supply chain are now connected to the governing center of this Metaverse, the “Control Tower”.
